Made with Love (literally)…

About six months ago, a friend posted a pic of the most stunning LOVE earrings that I had to have. Sadly, she purchased them from an artist at a festival in Dallas, Texas. This morning I scrolled across a pair on Instagram, and the desire to own a pair struck. So I went searching I found none. Determined to have them and of course by complete habit…this happened:

I posted that pic on my Instagram (@carmenveal) as a peak. And less than one hour later…this happened

The ones I saw were wooden. Which worried me as I imagine them being on the heavy side. I have this fear of drooping earring holes, so I stay far away from any earring with weight. These babies are as light as a feather, and are flexible so when they hit my shoulder they bend slightly.

I love them so much, I decided to retail them. It’s been a while since I added new merchandise to my limited edition boutique on etsy (, so I added these lovely love earrings for only $20 per pair. Now I’m all dressed and ready to head out to run some errands. Wearing my new earrings which I adore.

Home + Living | Window Surgeon

This was such a fun project! Carmen Veal Interiors was hired to re-upholster an old outdated valance with a fresh stylish makeover. Once my client decorates the space surrounding the window, I’ll share the gorgeous new valance that already made the room look like a million bucks. She absolutely loved it and titled me a window surgeon :-). Enjoy some pics below.

Until next time, happy creating…

Greeting dolls!

This week has been full of random DIY’ing, planning, preparing and touring. Building hors d’oeuvre food stations for my interior and event decor firm (Carmen Veal Interiors, LLC), making printing and cutting business cards, making dresses, and getting ready for a round-table meetings that kicks off my Art of Living Empowerment tour. This is a week in a life of a serial entrepreneur. Enjoy a few snapshots I’ve shared on Instagram. Until next time,

Home + Living | Homemade Butter

I am so very excited about this post! My sister Roz (who is also my consultation, manager, personal chef and best friend) is an amazing cook! Anytime our family gathers for dinners, brunches and lunders (lunch and dinner) we do so at her place. This post features her homemade butter that I could not pass up sharing with you all.

The video is pretty self explanatory but to sum it up:

1. Heavy cream
2. Seasoning for flavor (optional)

1. Pour cream into mason jar/container.
2. Shake for 10-11 minutes.
3. Drain buttermilk and butter.
4. Season butter for flavor.
5. Enjoy!

Easy does it and you can now save money and a trip to the grocery store. This DIY is totally amazing and pretty, prim and proper approved.

DIY | Rope Inspired Decor

Sharing a simple inexpensive way to add a personal touch to your space! You will need styrofoam balls (less than $5 at Walmart), glue gun & glue sticks and rope:

Simply wrap the rope around the object applying hot glue often. Remember, a little glue goes a long way.

End results:

You can even think outside the box and add the new decor to seashells like I did here:

The possibilities are endless with this DIY. You can cover vases, bowls, lamps–the sky is the limit.

DIY | Customized home decor

Today I’m featuring the color scheme through out my apartment: pale jade and mustard yellow.

I’m working on a (close to three-month) major apartment clean and will either toss, reduce or donate a lot of junk I’ve collected over the past few years. Today, I did some recycling and wanted to share some of my new pieces.

Wood, vases from Michael’s, Ferrero Rocher (chocolate treats), and an old iPhone case revamped with decoupage (using scrapbook papers, matte finish mod podge glue, tacky glue and paint). And here you have it folks! (I made the throw pillows and serving tray earlier this year)…

Most of these pieces will be placed in my home office once I’m done completing it. Looking forward to more DIY’s in the very near future.

Until next time…

DIY | Tree decor to die for

Greetings dolls!

I had the pleasure of turning something old into sometime super fun and brand new. Tree trunks spray painted to use in the home as props. The project pretty self-explanatory and easy to follow through pics below.

I found the top two images via google– since I didn’t take before and during pics. The sky is the limit with the color paint you can use for this projects. Here is the big reveal:
