About
I grew up in Hartford, CT, had a daughter at age 17, studied Psychology, and then ended up working in corporate America until age 23, when I began to dislike my career and moved to the human services and mental health fields. Which (to my surprise) turned out to be a field I didn’t love.
As strange as this may seem, and for as long as I can remember, I wanted to work with decorating homes and making things. I had creative abilities that, because no one I knew personally grew up doing the things they were naturally well at, took a back seat…in an abandoned car, in a junkyard somewhere.
Turns out, what’s meant to be will be. Life has a way of proving that not all bad is meant to be, nor is it as bad as it seems. Usually there’s a far greater purpose…a lesson of some sort.
My daughter was diagnosed with autism, which changed my life in more ways than one. From denial and depression to acceptance and growth, I took life by the horns and made the most of it.
In 2009 I started my LLC which initially served as a clothing line of women’s fashion. Then in 2010, I founded Hope 4 Autism a nonprofit organization for individuals affected by autism. In 2012, I began using my sewing skills to make my own home decor and took pictures of my projects to share with family and friends.
Today, I work as a freelance interior decorator specializing in custom decor, swimwear designer/seamtress and a furniture buying. I’ve received awards and recognition throughout my state for my dedication to autism philanthropy and my accomplishments as a designer.
I live in a spacious apartment in my states capital city, Hartford. I love it here.
I started this blog in 2012 , where I share things that I do and great ways to DIY your way through a happy life. As a result of my own branding, I recently began brand ambassadoring for other brands (which is exciting).
I am a firm believer in doing the things you love most. Do the best you can, as much as you can, while you can with some passion, some compassion some humor and some style!
